The 50-Word Vignette Challenge

50-Word Vignette #49

Prompt: Hungry

It's never enough. Always, always I crave more. Endlessly more, and still I am not satisfied. So many questions. Mysteries and puzzles to solve. Conundrums to understand. Libraries and private collections the world over I have visited, and still I am hungry for knowledge forever just out of my reach.

Anybody else like to join in and write their own? Just post it in the comments. All welcome.

Hungry
For love, for freedom from fear, for freedom
Hungry for food and for something to drink
Hungry for respect, for an end to platitudes and crocodile tears
Hungry for getting on a train not to feel like a re-run of Auschwitz
Hungry for human beings to find their humanity

"I'm not hungry," said Talia, dully.

"Tough." Clutterbuck plopped the plate before her. Solid, bland, and nourishing. She still wondered if she could keep it down.

"Eat some of it," said Tristan. "Show them you tried."

She gave him a dirty look but picked up her fork.

The food vanished.

i am hungry

food is abundant and tasty
my hunger is of the mind
i am hungry for art

most of all
i am hungry for books

Sorry, Ivy. I managed to miss this one. I echo what Carol says.
